Charlee
By Phyllis (MaxnCharleesMom)

I had wanted a small dog, one that was kind of on the old side and a friend of mine offered me her Pekenese. Since I didn't know anything about these dogs, I called my groomer and asked her. She said she had almost called me the day before about a little dog that was brought to her that day. She told me he was found in a dumpster at the local landfill. A client of hers had gone to throw some trash away and instead of pitching it in like he always did he just "felt" he should get out of the truck and look in the dumpster. That's when he saw the little dog. The poor thing was matted so bad you couldn't see his eyes, he was flea and tick infested. Just a mess!! She shaved him and he was being vet checked as we spoke. I cried when she told me and I said let me pray about it. That night I had a dream about a little black and white dog running around in my yard and I was calling him Charlee. Even saw the spelling in the dream.

The next day I went to see him, and sure enough he was the same black and white dog in the dream! I knew he was the dog for me. He is deaf and blind, has dry eye disease, and terrible skin allergies, but with medication, good food, good grooming and LOTS OF LOVE, he has made a complete turn around! The vet told me he was most likely 10 to 14 years of age, so I chose the middle and said he was 11. That was 3 years ago, and Charlee is my heart throb!! Such a precious little boy!! I wish other people would give the Senior dogs a chance, they are so rewarding to have as companions!!
