Our story, as short as I can make it, is I had a wonderful standard red longhaired dachshund, Jessie. When she died 5 years ago it about killed me, so I swore to never have a dog again. Then last summer, a friend of mine who works at the animal shelter, called to say someone dumped three little doxies at the dog pound during the night so they had no idea where they came from or what their story was.

I went over there JUST to see them. There was a smooth red boy, a darling red longhaired girl and this black and tan longhaired girl. When I laid eyes on that black and tan girl, it was one of those magical moments where you feel like you've known them all your life. The only other time that happened to me was when I saw my Jessie as a puppy at a dog show in an X Pen, I went over and picked her up and the rest was history.

So, after a story too long to tell here but suffice it to say the many ways this all played out was just too odd to be by chance, I ended up with all three babies and I was going to find them all a good home. I found the boy a good home locally, and I found an awesome home with people I know in Iowa so I flew there with the little red girl. She is doing great now, I was so attached to her by that time it just ripped my heart out. I had found another awesome home in Texas for the black and tan girl. But when I got back from Iowa, I knew I couldn't let this one go so I had to call them and cancel.

She was about a year old last summer when I got her, so she's now about 2. She was in season when I got her, filthy and didn't have very long hair. But she was totally house broken, super sweet, funny, playful, very friendly, she is very quiet, not a barker, doesn't dig or chew, just no bad habits to explain why someone would take these guys to the shelter. Not a mean bone in her body, she is happy doing whatever as long as she's with you. I of course had her spayed and her hair has grown a ton. She had allergies but after several months of allergy shots now, her itchies are all but gone.

She's my constant companion and best little buddy, and in this year she has already helped me through the sudden loss of my brother and my cat Simon.
