Tuesday, April 6, 2004: Conditioning for the Show Ring

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

PHFlea: Oh well.....nighters

PHMowgli: nite Flea and MOrgan

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i desided not to leave :-)

PHMowgli: WEll that is great icey we like to keep you here LOL

Minuet: <---knows nothing about show dogs

iceywhite_huskies_nr: thanks

bert_nr: With all the snow we've had this winter my dogs have gotten very little conditioning

PHMowgli: mine also bert but I am working them daily now

iceywhite_huskies_nr: snow?? what snow?? i aint seen no snow

bert_nr: If it hadn't been for agility classes and trials it would be none

bert_nr: We had 5 more inches Sunday

iceywhite_huskies_nr: * looks for snow, See's none*

PHMowgli: icey where are you at?

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

iceywhite_huskies_nr: west TN

PHMowgli: oh Ok well way up here in the frozen North I have seen a lot of snow this yr LOL

PHMowgli: Ok so what does everyone do to keep their dogs in condition?

iceywhite_huskies_nr: my huskies would love it if we got any snow at all, i got a friend in DE he's always complaining coz of snow

PHMorgan: AOL hates me, I swear

bert_nr: I'm only 1/2 way to the frozen north and i think we had 140" this season

PHMowgli: I myself like to run do agility, and herding, as well as just letting dogs run and play on their own

PHMorgan: Did we at least agree on a TOPIC?

PHMorgan: We already did ovaban recently

bert_nr: Morgan I thought you went nighty nite

PHMowgli: Morgan everything hates me for last 2 days LOL

iceywhite_huskies_nr: skijoring, carting, plain out running

PHMowgli: Morgan we decided to use hormonal influences as a topic next week

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

Lesya: hello hello

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

Lesya: too bad im late for the breedng one

PHMowgli: unless you want something different LOL

PHMorgan: We can do that

PHMowgli: sorry lesya

Lesya: i was kinda hoping that one chatter would show up

Minuet: Hi Lesya

ezscoot_nr: I bike them when the weather is OK. I'm too much of a wimp for extra cold. Would love a dog treadmill...only have a human one. Anyone know how to make it work for dogs?

PHMorgan: OK nighters

PHMowgli: nite MOrgan have a nice day tomorrow

PHMowgli: ez I have no idea on that one

PHMowgli: but I bet you could get plans if you ran a search on that LOL

PHMowgli: I know they have plans to make a homemade doggy treadmill

ezscoot_nr: Who is "they">

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i tryed biking with mine, they tryed to kill me, they just took off and i couldnt get em to stop

Lesya: haha

PHMowgli: I think letting the dog run in a big area with other dogs makes a ton of difference in condition

Lesya: boy can isee that happening to me

Lesya: SQUIRREL!

Lesya: and a trip to the ER

PHMowgli: ez I have no clue who they are I just know if you run a search on a search engine you can find them

iceywhite_huskies_nr: lol yeah,

ezscoot_nr: Hey, thanks...I'll try it.

PHMowgli: mine would try to bite the tires on my bike LOL

PHMowgli: as they tried to herd it back to garage LOL

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

PHMowgli: WB Pommie

ezscoot_nr: I do think that conditioning makes a BIG difference.

PHMowgli: does anyone take dogs on runs daily or anything

PHMowgli: me too ez I think a good healthy dog in good condition makes a huge difference in and out of the ring

Lesya: grrrrr

Lesya: stupid anmal planet

iceywhite_huskies_nr: yeah, if i didnt take mine for runs every day, there would be no run to it, they would just drag me wereever they wanted

Minuet: Lesya, you gonna bite?

Lesya: im loosing so much respect for it

PHMowgli: if your dogs gets lots of fresh air, excercise and good food they have healthy shiny coats and look better overall

Lesya: i might!

Lesya: they were sayinbg "unfortunately, ts a pitbull"

Lesya: "with its incredibly powerful jaw strength.. it could inflict serous damage"

Minuet: I would think that a good healthy looking dog would do much better in the ring.

PHMowgli: there ya go lesya

Lesya: PIT BULL JAWS ARE NO STRONGER THAN OTHER DOGS OF THE SAME SIZE!!!!!

Lesya: *sigh*

ezscoot_nr: One more thing...sort of off topic... Did anyone here ever buy a groom table from EBAY? I saw a rather inexpensive one from a fellow in MI. Kind of think that he makes them.

Lesya: sorry

Lesya: thanks mow ;)

PHMowgli: Minuet they do

PHMowgli: ez I made my own they are very easy to make

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i cant get my dog to stack for any thing, any1 got any hints

Minuet: I also think that dogs should function as they were meant. A dog that can do its job would be a happier dog I would imagine

PHMowgli: if you get banquest table legs all you need to do is top with plywood and a matting cover

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

Lesya: throw something interesting in front of them

Lesya: teach them the STAND command

PHMowgli: I teach stack stay to my 8 week old pups that helps a ton as they get older and go to show

ezscoot_nr: Hey, PH..you are indeed a fountain of "do it yourselft" info!!

pommie_nr: I use clicker training

iceywhite_huskies_nr: he knows how to stack, and he will if he sees a cat, but he wont hold it, he wants to sit

PHMowgli: sorry ez but it is only like 35 bucks to make one and over 100 to buy ti already done LOL

Lesya: tell him to stay

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i didnt get my pup til he was 3 months,

pommie_nr: thus the clicker. you just have to find the motavation

ezscoot_nr: Don't be sorry!! I admire you. I'll look that up, too.

ezscoot_nr: I have a heavy one for home but would like a lighter/smaller one to take to shows.

bert_nr: Loop another leash about his mid section (loin area) and if he attempts to sit "help" him to stand while saying stand

PHMowgli: Some dogs to not work for a clicker just as some do not for food but that was last weeks topic

Lesya: ive gotta go

Lesya: goodluck with your pup icey

PHMowgli: nite lesya thanks for stopping by

Lesya: goodnight mow ez, everyone else

iceywhite_huskies_nr: if i stand be hind him, i can get him to stay standing, but if i move the least lil bit, he moves, and tryes to get in a heeling position

pommie_nr: sorry I wasnt here last week

PHMowgli: icey yes do what bert suggested and use a second lead around his middle to hold him inplace

PHMowgli: that is Ok pommie

PHMowgli: we can talk a bit on motivation also tonight as it will actually help in conditioning

PHMowgli: afterall if you cannot motivate your dog to get excercise they will not be in condition

iceywhite_huskies_nr: if i get any sorta slose to him he moves around alot

pommie_nr: I dont mean you have to clicker just somthing that will get his attention. alything can be used as a clicker therefore every dog will work for a clicker food not always being the reward.

ezscoot_nr: I believe in "obedience first...then conformation. What a easy job it is then! The dog does know the difference.

cbs_nr: I have never done this before but I have an urgent need tonight: my sweet Plato is a chow-pit bull and he has suddenly become jealous of Boucle who's much smaller. What hope is there of my still having a fine pet?

PHMowgli: icey wrap the second lead around his middle before you start and put him in a stack stay after 10 second realease and praise just keep working up your time

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

iceywhite_huskies_nr: ok thanks

ezscoot_nr: MinSch...I have Stn SCH.

PHMowgli: cbs what is your plato doing?

bert_nr: Gotta go

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i read on akc site, that, judges dont like it when your dog self stacks??

PHMowgli: is it dominance issues? or jealousy?

MiniSch_nr: Just finished setting up the nursery - puppies due in one week

pommie_nr: I have 1 acre under fence and since i have poms we can run that and play and keep in shape.

PHMowgli: icey that is not true

PHMowgli: yes pommie I have shelties and with 2 acres fenced they have lots of room also

PHMowgli: oh great mini good luck with the babies and of course you must tell us what you have

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i personaly think it would look better on the dog if it did self stack, it shows you put more work into the dog

PHMowgli: icey most judges will have us do a self stack on our dogs at least once in every show

MiniSch_nr: Icey - my experience has been that the judges do like the dogs that self stack.

ezscoot_nr: MinSch...do show your dogs yourselft?

PHMowgli: that shows the judge how good the rappor is between dog and handler

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i've never actually been, to a show, i got my puppy for my b-day, and im hope fully going to get to enter him in some jr shows this summer

pommie_nr: and you dont have to get down on your knees LOL

MiniSch_nr: Yes and no - I am trying to do a bred by boy by myself, but I have used handlers on other dogs.

Minuet: Well gang, I'm off

Minuet: Nite!

PHMowgli: nite minuet thanks for stopping by and chatting with us

pommie_nr: Im doing a bred by now.

ezscoot_nr: It's a lot tougher with Mini's...so much competition and so many pros in the ring

PHMowgli: pommie yes with our little dogs it is harder LOL

cbs_nr: Plato was a stray I took in as a puppy. When the vet told me his breed I decided to keep him feeling he would not find a good home otherwise. He has attacked Boucle and hurt him. Plato weighs 75 pounds. Boucle weighs 50 and is about a year younger. Both are neutered males. Both are strays. Even the vet couldn't figure out what Boucle is a mixture of. He's super friendly. Plato is very nervous in new situations.

PHMowgli: I am also campaigning a bred by boy LOL

PHMowgli: cbs you may have to seperate them

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

MiniSch_nr: It is the grooming that often makes the difference - many of the handlers are master groomers. I am getting better every year.

PHMowgli: some of the problem could be hormones in systems still fromnueter

PHMowgli: also could be a dominance issue plato is dominant and boucle is not going to accept that

PHMowgli: I would suggest taking both dogs to training classes

ezscoot_nr: Well, I, too must go. Must build a groom table and set up my treadmill!!!! Thanks, guys and good luck.

pommie_nr: I have just really started trimming heavily I hate take all the coat off

PHMowgli: nite EZ

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i took my pup to a show, just to get him use to all the ppl beeing around and stuff, and every1 there that seen him, said he was rare, b/c he's solid white

iceywhite_huskies_nr: any 1 know if a white husky is rare?? or not?

pommie_nr: dont think i have seen a white husky

iceywhite_huskies_nr: ever1 is kinda leavin

pommie_nr: ya this is my first time here do they always leave like that.

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i dunno my first time too, lol

pommie_nr: why a pommie pic

PHMowgli: Whew that hurt

iceywhite_huskies_nr: the there wasnt a husky, and my bf has poms so ya know

PHMowgli: I fell off the internet and could nto get back on

iceywhite_huskies_nr: LOL, hurts bad dont it

pommie_nr: oh thought it funny that you left isnt this kinda your chat.

PHMowgli: can anyone see me?

pommie_nr: I see you

PHMowgli: yes it is my chat I am the host LOL

iceywhite_huskies_nr: what u meen C u??

PHMowgli: and I want to aplogize but luckliy I turned off the kick chatters out of room when I leave button LOL

PHMowgli: or you would have all fallen with me LOL

pommie_nr: we were just saying first time here for us and wondered why everyone left

iceywhite_huskies_nr: LOL, thats good

PHMowgli: icey I did not see any posts for a minute so I was not sure if you could see my typing at all

iceywhite_huskies_nr: do yall think a 6 month old pup, could start in a jr handling class/ show??

iceywhite_huskies_nr: o ok

PHMowgli: icey yes I show 6 mth olds

PHMowgli: the boy I am campaigning now is only 8 mths old

Purball: Heloo!

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

PHMowgli: hi pur

pommie_nr: I wouldnt think id put it in jr handling but you could enter reg class

iceywhite_huskies_nr: in regular classes???

Purball: conditioning?

Purball: like keeping them fit?

PHMowgli: pommie I agree I would show in regular classes also

PHMowgli: yes purball

iceywhite_huskies_nr: im only 14, could i??

PHMowgli: keeping them fit, well groomed and ready to show

PHMowgli: icey yes you do not have to be an adult to show in regualr classes

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

pommie_nr: yes no age limit for class just the jr classes as in jr they dont judge the dog but the handler

Purball: hey I'm 16!! nice to meet a fellow teen on her! lol

Purball: OHOHOHOHOHOH MOWGLI!!

Purball: I have to tell ya' something.

PHMowgli: we get many teens in out chats

Willowynd: no you don;t

Purball: know how I really want to show dogs?

Purball: well....

iceywhite_huskies_nr: he's not actaully a show dog, he came from a back yard breeder

Purball: we were looking for a puppy (after Finn's death, mac's taking it real hard :(( )

PHMowgli: purball you gonna get your chance?

Purball: and we found a breeder

pommie_nr: somtimes better here then where they could be and somtimes they can teach us old dogs new tricks.

PHMowgli: oh that is great pur

Purball: she wants to co-own the best pup of the litter with us, and she wants me to show it in conf. and agility!! Maybe even obedience. I'm so excited.

Purball: this breeder's really hands on and everything she's so nice and possitive.

PHMowgli: icey not all people who do not show have yucky dogs I would suggest taking your pup to a couple matches and having breeders go over him for you

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

Purball: I'm really excited about it![img id=em-5] as you can tell!!

Purball: what's the prob icey??

PHMowgli: pur that is great I can't wait for you to post pictures of your new dog to the board

Purball: the litter's due on April 29th... go home in June

pommie_nr: gee I missed what breed .pur

iceywhite_huskies_nr: ok, i will take him to a few shows, the breeder we got him from, didnt even have his puppy papers when we bought him

Purball: not sure on the name.......... and it's a golden retriever pommie!

PHMowgli: icey I do not like to generalize and say he did not come from from a show breeder therefore he is awful

Purball: so what's icey's delema?

PHMowgli: but by going to fun matches you will find out if you have a nice dog for a pet or a nice dog for a pet and show

pommie_nr: oh you think show breeders only have good dogs maybe this old dog teach you a new trick. LOL

Purball: http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/41847entirefurfamily.JPG just so yu know... that's our current and entire fur family

Purball: until our new pup arrives that is!

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i dunno where his parents came from, or grand parents, but they got his parents from washington

PHMowgli: pommie I have seen some horrible pups at show homes LOL

Purball: I have a question...

PHMowgli: afterall I am also a breeder and have produced my fair share of pets LOL

pommie_nr: thats what i mean

PHMowgli: but you have to remember only 1 in about 200 pups are really good show dogs

Purball: is there any way to pick a good show pup from a litter??

Purball: like when they're only a month old?

PHMowgli: not that only that 1 can show and win I mean only that 1 can show and really win and go far in the show ring

pommie_nr: show depends on a lot of stuff.

PHMowgli: pur you need to have a breeder experienced in that breed choose

PHMowgli: I could not pick a good pom I go by color and cuteness LOL

pommie_nr: once you have confirmation in the dog then you have coat to work on and condition and also personality.

PHMowgli: but I bet pommie would not pick the best sheltie LOL

Willowynd: find a breeder that knows its lines and what young show puppies in THEIR lines look like

pommie_nr: gee I bet you like orange most people do LOL

Willowynd: every line develops differently

PHMowgli: no pom I like blk and tan LOL

Purball: yep.....she's bringing in a breeder from across the province to help her (keeps saying that she's new to the breeding world and this breeder really helps her out alot.) and her vet

iceywhite_huskies_nr: lol, my vet thought my husky was a GSD

PHMowgli: I have never seen an ugly blk and tan pom pup LOL

pommie_nr: well sounds like you might have a nice mentor there.

Purball: GSD?

Purball: who me pommie?

PHMowgli: icey my smooth collie bitch was called a mixed dobie so don't feel bad LOL

pommie_nr: I have an ugly b/t bitch here or so most would say she is LOL

pommie_nr: yes pur.

Purball: well I'm sure hopeing so!

iceywhite_huskies_nr: LOL,

PHMowgli: pommie no such thing

Purball: her dogs are beautiful

PHMowgli: she can't be ugly she has to be cute as a little fur ball can be LOL

Purball: I'd give you a link to her site..... but.... well it would give you the precice location of ME too, and apparently (according to my mother) I'm not suppost to do that.

PHMowgli: that is Ok purball we don't mind that you cannot tell us where you are

iceywhite_huskies_nr: I think my vet is crazy thoough, i meen my pup has 2 dif color eyes. and 1 ever seen a GSD with pinto eyes??

Purball: i'm not partial to little dogs... but I've seen some GOSH-CUTE pommies before!

pommie_nr: no you are not to do that. we will take your word on it.

PHMowgli: we do not allow that info to be given anyway LOL

Purball: :)

cbs_nr: Boucle and plato fought in Oct 03 when my father and I were both gone 5 days. This time I was gone 9 days and they fought again. Plato weighs 75 pounds, boucle 50.

Purball: glad everyone's so understanding! :D

PHMowgli: so who is currently showing dogs?

Purball: :( not me.

iceywhite_huskies_nr: my first show is gonna be in may

PHMowgli: cbs so they only fight when you are not home?

INDRAJM: I show Vizslas

pommie_nr: huskys often have different color eyes.

Purball: how long (approx) does it take to have a pup trained enough to enter the ring? (or is it more training the handler? lol)

PHMowgli: indra that is great viz are pretty dogs

pommie_nr: ind now thats a bit different bred the vizslas

Purball: uhu!

PHMowgli: cbs I would say right there is your clue if your dogs only fight when you are not home someone is not doing things as you do and that is causing the aggression

PHMowgli: purbal it is a combo of both

cbs_nr: apparently. My husband does not spend a lot of time with Plato since he's not living with us.

PHMowgli: I can have a pup ring ready by 12 weeks

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i know huskies do, but i have never seen a GSD with dif color eyes, and a white husky looks dif from a GSD

INDRAJM: Got thrown out

Purball: wow

PHMowgli: cbs your father or whoever is watching the dogs is causing the problem so what you will need to do is if you have to leave have the dogs watched by 2 seperate people

Purball: so how young can a pup enter the show ring?

PHMowgli: Welcome to Show Dog Chat!! Tonights Topic conditioning your show dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

PHMowgli: WB indra

PHMowgli: purbal at 6 mths

Purball: huh.

Purball: have you ever done agility?

INDRAJM: Thanks

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i been workin with my pup for a month ( he's 4 months old) and he's still kinda hyper, but he's learning fast

PHMowgli: but you can show at matches at 12 weeks

PHMowgli: I do agility yes

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i had a mixed breed, that was traind 4 agility

pommie_nr: I also cant have them pretty much trained by that age but i dont let mine out the door till at least 16 weeks old.

PHMowgli: and obedience, and herding, and tracking as well as conformation

INDRAJM: I also do agility and obed.

Purball: how long does it take (approx) to train them to DO agility?

Purball: it looks very complecated.

PHMowgli: anywhere from 1 yr to 18 mths before I will compete with a dog

INDRAJM: I would say at least a year

Purball: if I wanted to get titles in all three agility, obedience and confirmation... what order should I try to do them in?

PHMowgli: oh they can complete the course much quicker but in order to place and qualify it takes longer

PHMowgli: I would go obedience first

pommie_nr: gee I think i would work on the working titles first.

PHMowgli: then conformation then agility

Purball: okay.

INDRAJM: I always find it easiest to put obed. titles on first

pommie_nr: have you tried the new rally ob.

Purball: BUT. don't you teach the dog to sit in obd. because everything i've heard/read says that a dog should NOT sit in the conf. ring... it's bad or somehting...

PHMowgli: the agility takes so much energy and conformation is not as hard on the dog so I do conformation in the middle while we train in agility

INDRAJM: My Vizslas are slow to mature so I have to wait for them

cbs_nr: When I was gone 9 days, my father continued to feed the dogs on their regular schedule and the dogs love him. This is great getting to talk to people about my dog problems. Thanks for your interest! Since we are afraid Plato will kill Boucle--because he's become jealous--we have separated them. For the moment Boucle is in the "pen." It's 40 feet by 40 feet with grass, trees, dog house, large water bowl. but it's not a permanent solution.

PHMowgli: purbal you also teach stand for exam in obediecne

INDRAJM: to get their bodies for conformation

iceywhite_huskies_nr: my pup wants to sit every time u look at his teeth

INDRAJM: I take them in the ring though so they get used to it

pommie_nr: you use one command for sit and downs and when I want mine to stay off me I use off. I dont use the word down just in case I might want to do ob just once. so far I havent tried it,.

PHMowgli: cbs I think actually the problem is a dominance thing as if you but boucle outside to eat and let plato eat indoors I am sure your problems will remarkably disappear

Purball: okay; so he won't revert to his 'primal' training to sit? cause that's what I heard.

PHMowgli: no purbal I teach stack stay

PHMowgli: and I show in obedience and then conformation and sometimes do both at once at one show

iceywhite_huskies_nr: my pup is traind in german

Purball: well... i taught finn 'STAND' but he'd often sit (we never taugtht him to sit- i think he copied Macintosh for that behavior...)

PHMowgli: this weekend we will be in obedience, agility, and conformation all with one dog

Purball: wow

Purball: so what kind of dogs do you have mowgli? poms?

PHMowgli: shelties

INDRAJM: I did both once, ended up running from the breed ring

pommie_nr: now thats alot what breed do you have?

iceywhite_huskies_nr: i think that , all that would put too much on one dog

Purball: (trying to remember. hehe not too good at it.) actually yes, now I remember hehe sorry!

PHMowgli: indra I am used to running LOL

pommie_nr: oh well that says alot. LOL

PHMowgli: icey no he is trained for it

Purball: LOL

INDRAJM: and my bitch laid down on the long sit!

Purball: I hope my new babe will have lots of titles.

PHMowgli: Merlin can work ducks for 8 hrs straight

iceywhite_huskies_nr: yeah, but i think it would stress them out

PHMowgli: oh it would some dogs but not merlin

Purball: names: Ripley, Spartan, Qwerty..... getting a bit short on this list... HELP!

iceywhite_huskies_nr: well i guess sometimes it would be ok, but not like all the time

pommie_nr: a dog that can do what it was bred to do is always a happeir dog

PHMowgli: at 7 mths old he already has his HT and NH and 2 qualifing scores in obedience and 4 pts in conformation

Purball: ( they need a GR avatar!!)

INDRAJM: What's ht, herding?

Purball: (or img or whatever you call it hehe)

pommie_nr: where are you from my bfriends daughter in law has shelties is in Ok

iceywhite_huskies_nr: yeah i know, i had to inprovise, we have no snow, so i use a cart for my husky insted of a sled

PHMowgli: ht= herding test NH= novice herding

Purball: how many points does a dog require to become a champion?

PHMowgli: I am in Michigan

PHMowgli: 15 pts 2 majors and 1 minor from three different judges

INDRAJM: 15 points with 2 majors under 2 different judges

Purball: my dog needs two; CH, AGN, CD or something else... can't remember... but he needs 2 of any of those before my breeder will use him at stud.

iceywhite_huskies_nr: how can you tell how many points ur dog has??

pommie_nr: what do you mean one miner you must have 3 judges with 2 majors being from different judges.

Purball: LOL

Purball: (WA! haha, confusing!!)hehe

PHMowgli: you use the schedule of pts for your breed and determine that by how many dogs they beat out at the shows they go to providing they win

Purball: can't you get points even if you don't win?

PHMowgli: ok a major is 3 pt or more

Purball: or.....

PHMowgli: and a minor is 1 or 2 pts

INDRAJM: right ph

INDRAJM: I've never heard of a minor

pommie_nr: counting points can be confusing also . ok thought maybe thats what you meant but a dog can finish with all majors just so they have at least 3 judges.

PHMowgli: in order to actually get the championship from the AKC you need to recieve a total of 15 pts from 3 different judges those pts must be accrued through 2 majors and at least 1 monor

PHMowgli: minor*

cbs_nr: PHMowgli: Yes, Plato and Boucle have a dominance issue but also I think Plato has gotten very jealous when he sees Boucle getting attention. I brushed Plato and then I started brushing Boucle and Plato growled. Plato considers that I'm his and his alone. My sister-in-law is Boucle's owner in theory and she and my brother are willing to take Boucle to Lawrenceville where they live. But I've been told my the women who trained both Plato and Boucle that his aggression may increase with age and Plato may be dangerous to own, a liability. What am I to do about my sweet Plato?

INDRAJM: Right pommie, but you only need 2 judges for the majors

PHMowgli: cbs if you want to keep him then just train him to be more social by taking him to classes

Purball: Well.... i'm sure it'lkl be less confusing when my breeder explaines it to me in person..., or when I'm acctually GETTING the points! LOL, not to say you're bad at explaining or anything..heheehe JUST that I'm a TOTAL newbie. It's like explaining the physics of an atom to a 3 year old!
