PHFang: Ok so it seems that in Canada they have a real silly rule

Dogaroo: Agh.... I'm out of my league here. ONly rule I know is "don't bite the judge"

PHFang: That the "dog show" grounds only includes 10 feet from the ring.

bert_nr: Ever been on a bench show committee

Dogaroo: and you shouldn't let your dog bite him/her, either.

PHFang: And when an exhibitor's dog was attacked near the motorhome area, they could not call a bench hearing comittee

PHFang: Nice huh

PHMowgli: well geez that bites Fang

PHFang: Yea.....needless to say I hope we don't have that same rule

bert_nr: On the other hand the AKC goes overboard

Dogaroo: That's ridiculous. You wouldn't dare let your dog any farther away to potty!

PHFang: Yea that only works for me Dog if I can park my motorhome 10 feet from the ring! LOL

PHMowgli: well I know some judges I would like to bite they are so wrong sometiems LOL

bert_nr: If you're club is renting "part" of a fairgrounds the entire fairgrounds is considered to be showgrounds'

PHFang: That could be bad

PHFang: Several venues down here have multiple events on the grounds....you mean that the AKC says dog club is responible for the flea market on the site?

PHMowgli: oh bert now my understanding is you must have a legal description of the grounds you are responsible or youw iwll be responsible for entire grounds per AKC

PHFang: One venue had a revival going on the same time as the show....eek

PHMowgli: not if you have a legal description of only the area you are responsible fang

PHFang: Hopefully they do

bert_nr: Doesn't matter to AKC which is why if you hold a match on a showday on the same grounds there can be no underaged pups

bert_nr: Doesn't matter where on the grounds you hold it

PHFang: Well they just had one in Palmetto, FL Bert. They allowed pups as young as 3 months..same rings as the big dawgs

PHFang: On Sat night...half hour after BIS

PHMowgli: yeah Fang we do that too

PHFang: How do they get by with that then?

bert_nr: Sorry but it's true....... even if a horse show (been there) agility trial etc or what ever is renting a differnt part of the grounds.

PHFang: wow

PHFang: That is scary

PHMowgli: the show ends legally at end of BIS then AKC is not part of grounds anymore

PHFang: aaaaaaaah

bert_nr: We had one at our show too with underaged pups but there was no show on THAT property THAT day. Our show was the following day

PHFang: Rumor control has it that AKC/Eukanuba is considering making FL the permanent home for the Classic....anybody heard anything bout that?

PHFang: k

bert_nr: Unless it's a cluster Mow

PHMowgli: no bert actually there was just a change on show rules that was approved via AKC delegates committee that changed that

PHMowgli: unless of course you are doing night shows LOL

bert_nr: Well it must have been very recent since our show and match was just last month.

bert_nr: No I've heard nothing about the classic

PHMowgli: maybe it has not gone into affect yet

PHMowgli: it was voted on unanimously about 3 mths ago

PHMowgli: it was in back of gazette if you get the mag

PHFang: What excatly did they vote on Mow? I've lost track of what you were saying for sure

PHMowgli: the time you are responsible for the show grounds more or less LOL

PHFang: Now you have to have each pup individually registered with your name on it before you can show in BBE. BUT.....you have to ALSO have that same pup's papers processed before the show closes

PHFang: And it would seem that AKC doesn't always process papers the same time they cash your check

PHMowgli: no fang but I will pretend for tonight

PHFang: There was a great article by Annie Clark on judging rules in Dogs in Review....dang wish I hadn't loaned it out

PHFang: Like false teeth is automatic DQ forever....one time offense

PHFang: And apparently in the UK they have a quickie chemical test to see if a dog has been dyed

PHFang: But we don't have that here......darn it all

PHMowgli: wow need

PHFang: Thankfully the German Pinscher I showed to her was au natural! LOL

PHMowgli: yes but Annie will not penalize a poodle for hair spray

PHFang: Can't hide much on nekked dogs anyway

PHFang: She says in the article she will pick it apart

PHMowgli: yep but not penalize which is good

PHFang: Friend of mine showing to a judge that ALWAYS puts up a certain couple

PHFang: Even if they have ca-ca

PHFang: So she calls for the AKC rep to stand ringside during the judging. Low and behold the judging was a lot more fair

PHMowgli: oh good deal Fang I have never heard of a AKC rep standing ringside though LOL

PHFang: No? I've seen them there before sometimes

PHFang: Provisional judges.....a lot and sometimes when wicket is called

PHMowgli: at all the shows up here they are never by rings they kinda lounge at tables LOL

PHFang: LOL well call one over and wake em up

PHMowgli: rarely do we have provisional judges though

PHFang: OH well there ya go

PHFang: They generally appear when the wicket comes out

PHMowgli: Ok so lets get this room moving a bit LOL

bossanovabassets_nr: I realized I oculdn't see my own text....black on black....lol

bossanovabassets_nr: Just got the first points on 2 of my last litter....took me 3 years of breeding to get these guys.

PHMowgli: oh awesome basset

PHMowgli: congrats tell us all about the show

bossanovabassets_nr: It felt wonderful!!!!

bossanovabassets_nr: My bassets are of a more old fashioned style than a lot of what is in the ring.

bossanovabassets_nr: My little bitch won over several dogs that have been beating her regularly......think she is just coming into her own.

PHFang: Oh that must have felt great basset!

bossanovabassets_nr: Of course, the next day I became Ill and spent the next 3 days at the cluster....flat on my back in my tent trailer and I was the hospitality chair for the show.

PHFang: OH NOOO what happened?

bossanovabassets_nr: Ended up missing a specialty the next weekend that I had looked forward to in months....I had to have gall bladder surgery.

PHMowgli: not much here basset taking a couple weeks off now

bossanovabassets_nr: Me too...just got a new puppy...spending time getting her acquainted with the other kids.

PHFang: In training here

PHMowgli: I am training Fang as new host basset

PHFang: In training on the chat functions basset....LOL

PHMowgli: so basset is your new pup for breeding and show?

bossanovabassets_nr: Ah....

bossanovabassets_nr: Both for the new puppy.....

PHFang: Exciting stuff basset.....dog or bitch?

bossanovabassets_nr: She is from a line very different ftom mine...but it is time for an outcross.....a couple years down the line...she is only 11 weeks old.

PHFang: awwwwwwwwwww all ears

PHMowgli: oh a wittle pupper

PHFang: Bassets are very mooshable

bossanovabassets_nr: Yep...and she has plenty of skin....at the stage where they trip all over their ears....she likes to suck on her ears too.

PHMowgli: oh how cute

PHFang: OMG that has to be very cute

PHMowgli: I love puppies but basset pups are some of the cutest

PHFang: I haven't been able to see too many...but what I have seen they are adorable

PHMowgli: yes and bloodhound pups too my gosh they are adorable

PHFang: Never seen one of those in person Mow

bossanovabassets_nr: Yep...and they are michievious....into everything...

PHFang: That seems to be a universal puppy thing basset.....LOL

bossanovabassets_nr: Same wrinkled face....mooshy is the truth.

bossanovabassets_nr: Bassets don't really grow out of it contrary to their couch potatoe reputation.

PHFang: awwwwwww I love mooshing puppies

PHFang: I got to moosh on some pom puppies this last weekend...dang they are cute lil wind up toys
