The 129th Annual
Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
February 14-15, 2005

It's a tradition! Join us for our "Garden Gossip" Doubleheader on Tuesday night, February 15, from 9-11 PM Eastern Time in the the Dog Den!

The groups will be televised on the USA Network (schedule below), and for the first time, streaming video of the breed competitions will be available two hours after judging, via the Westminster Kennel Club website: Click here!

As in years past, USA Network will broadcast the Group and Best in Show judging live, with one repeat the following day. This is this year's schedule:

Monday, Feb 14
Live: 8-11 PM ET/PT
Repeat: Tuesday, Feb 15, Noon-3 PM ET/PT

Tuesday, Feb 15
8-11 PM Live ET/PT
Repeat: Wednesday, Feb 16, Noon-3 PM ET/PT

There are 2581 dogs entered in Westminster this year representing each of the 165 recognized AKC dog breeds. The entry limit was reached in less than one hour, and as in years past, the Golden Retriever has the most entries, at 53. According to the Westminster Kennel Club's David Frei, "Dachshunds, with three varieties, have a total entry of 64. Other top entries include Mastiffs 45, Rhodesian Ridgebacks 39, Havanese 39, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels 35, Australian Shepherds 34, Pugs 33, French Bulldogs 33, Samoyeds 32 and Labrador Retrievers 30. Poodles have a total entry of 34 in three Varieties.

"By state, California (313 entries) and New York (226) will have the largest contingents of entries. All 48 of the contiguous states, Alaska, Puerto Rico and Canada have entries (complete state-by-state breakdown follows).

"Mrs. Lynette Saltzman of Westport, CT, will judge Best In Show, heading a judging panel of 40 judges from 17 states and Canada.

"Breeds and Varieties in the Working, Terriers, Toy, and Non Sporting Groups will be benched and judged during the day on Monday, with Group competition that evening. On Tuesday, breeds and varieties in the Sporting, Hound and Herding Groups will be benched and judged, with judging of those Groups and Best In Show to be held Tuesday evening."

Television coverage will be on USA TV Network Monday, February 14 -- 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM ET/PT Groups to be judged Monday include: Working, Terrier, Toy, and Non-Sporting. This program will be repeated at noon ET/PT on Tuesday, February 15.

Tuesday February 15 -- 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM ET/PT Tuesdays Group judging includes: Sporting, Hound, and Herding. Best in Show competition will follow immediately after the last group is judged. This program will be repeated at noon ET/PT on Wednesday, February 16.

Mrs. Dawn Vick Hansen of Elkhorn, WI.

Non-Sporting Group:
Ms. Sandra Goose Allen of Madeira Beach, FL.

Herding Group:
Mrs. Dorothy Collier of Wellington, FL.
