Reader Reviews from Amazon.com:
Captivating
I really enjoyed this book and learned an amazing amount. I've only read it once, but intend on reading it several more times to absorb everything. I particularly thought the translations/phrase book were terrific. It really opened my eyes to much subtler communication my dog is displaying, as well as shocking misinterpretations on my behalf. I had thought I was doing ok in my communication with my dog. I thought some of the things I now know she 'discusses' with me, were just some odd quirks of her behaviour and personality. I have used and will use in the future his techniques, and have tested his theories and experiences on my dog, and the response is amazing. Highly recommended for those who want to deepen the respect and communication between dog and human, as well as strengthen a working relationship for professionals.
Very helpful
This book taught me a lot about how dogs communicate, and I really needed to know, since I have a rather aggressive little 10-year-old dog, recently come to live with me full-time.
Instructional overall
Overall an educational and instructional read. I could have used a little more on actual full body language and more detail on smaller noises (snorts, sneezes, moans, whines, etc.). That said, I still appreciated knowing some the history and theories behind some of the body and sound language outlined in the book. I'd recommend this to those wanting to know why our dogs do what they do.
ok but...
It was very informative and has helped my read my two dogs better. It was a hard book to finish though. The author seemed to ramble on and go off on tangents. It took awhile to get to the point sometimes.
How to speak Dog
I haven't had time to read it but I was very pleased with my purchase.
