The first 40 or so pages explain why you should train your dog. Remainder of book explains strategies and methods.
Lots of good information for any dog owner that just wants tips on getting better behavior from their dog... even if they are not sure they want to train for tricks.
I was very glad to have read the other reviews on Amazon concerning this and other popular trick training books. Due to the low cost of used books on Amazon, I ordered this book and two others: 101 Dog Tricks: Step by Step Activities to Engage, Challenge, and Bond with Your Dog and Dog Tricks: Fun and Games for Your Clever Canine. Very happy with this well rounded group of books. The latter have better photos and are more focused on tricks only, but I really like that I have the resource of "The Only Dog Tricks Book" and its positive approach to training. This book is about half full of setting up a strong foundation before even getting into what I would consider the trick training.
In summary: It's a great book, but not sure it's literally "The Only Dog Tricks Book You'll Ever Need". I have only been using it as a resource for a few weeks, so I may update this review.
Great Book

This is a great book to get you motivated with ultra training for your canine friend. No book is going to train your dog for you, you must first learn how to train you dog. This book contains all the information needed to do that. It covers training from the basic to very complicated but interesting tricks. The book is not too wordy and is pretty easy reading but still contains all the information that is really needed to train animals. Once you learn how to train your dog, your dog will love to learn new tricks regardless how young or old. The training techniques are very modern and does not involve harsh desclipline. You'll find you and your dog will both learn from this book. Don't forget to buy a clicker too, a clicker makes a great training tool and is used in conjunction with this book.
For Beginner Trick Trainers Only

Thia is a decent enough introduction to dog training basics, and with some fairly typical tricks covered, but don't let the title deceive you, it's certainly NOT the only trick book you would need if you want to teach a variety of tricks. There's also a paltry number of photos and I find most people love trick books with lots of photos so they can see the trick being performed. Kyra Sundance's 101 Dog Tricks certainly covers a far wider range of tricks and is wonderful illustrated with photos for every trick, I also liked Mary Ray's Dog Tricks book.
Same book as The Dog Training and Tricks Book!

This book is the same as The Everything Dog Training & Tricks book by Gerilyn J. Bielakiewicz! That book is $8.95 and this one is a dollar more. The only difference seems to be the title, size and cover. I feel a little ripped off! I was so excited when I bought these books thinking "these people must be onto something to have a couple books on dog training and they have good reviews...I'll buy them both!" WOW! Was I taken aback when after flipping through one I found the other to have the same information! I'm SO incredibly disappointed. The books are good...but I'm still miffed and feel ripped off! Also, this is directed more towards Clicker training for those of you who might wonder. As for the tricks, etc. I have read countless books and it seems they are all pretty much the same when it comes to tricks and basic training. You don't have to make my mistake and buy a bunch of books on the topic to have an Uber Hund! One book will give you all the tricks you need!
